JeepSkins® Use, Care and Cleaning Guide -
Prepping for Installation:
- Before applying your JeepSkins to your vehicle, be sure all surface paints, clear coats, and waxes are cured (hardened)*
- * (Approximate curing times: paint - 90 days; clear coat - 60 days; wax - 2 days.)
- Clean the metallic surface and the back side of the skin with a mild detergent.
- Wipe with a soft, lint free cloth or allow to air-dry.
Helpful Hints -
- For best results apply your JeepSkins at room temperature if indoors or if outdoors at a warm temperature.
- Use care in handling your JeepSkins in extremely cold conditions, as the skins may become brittle and more difficult to work with. It's recommended to install in warmer conditions.
- Install each skin on a clean, dry, flat surface and please be sure to install all the rubber magnet skins correctly. (see diagram included with your JeepSkins)
- Make sure that the rubber magnet skins cover the car bodywork evenly.
- When fitting the skins, make sure you leave a space of at least 5 mm from the edge. Any overhangs near the door panel may be easily kicked when getting in and out of your vehicle.
- With time, due to temperature changes, the skins could retract ( +/- 2% at least per metre )
- Make sure all skins are applied to a smooth, flat or gently curved surface.
- Check to see if there are any air-pockets or uneven areas to avoid lifted corners that may cause the JeepSkins to be blown off of the vehicle when driving at higher speeds.
- Not recommended for freeway driving.
- Jeepskins are designed and manufactured for trail riding and cruising and not high speed freeway driving.
- If you place a skin in the wrong position, completely remove it from the surface and re-apply.
- Do not pull the skin across the surface, or it may stretch due to the resistance caused by the high magnetic strength.
- Avoid use of skins on horizontal metal surfaces exposed to direct sunlight (such as automobile hoods) or temperatures exceeding 130º F (66º C).
- Please be aware that long-term use on surfaces frequently exposed to sunlight (such as vehicles) can result in uneven fading of the surface because the magnet-covered area is shielded from the ultra-violet rays.
- Avoid use on non-metallic body filters, simulated wood grain siding, and repainted surfaces.
- Jeepskins will not adhere to bonded surfaces. If your jeep has had body damag that has been repaired, your skins may not stick to that surface! Please check those surfaces with a home magnet before ordering your Jeepskins!
- To ensure the best results and avoid any damages, remove your JeepSkins weekly and follow the instructions for proper use, care and storing before reapplying your JeepSkins for your next adventure.
- To guard against moisture and dirt build-up between the skin and the metal surface (particularly for outdoor use), remove the skins at regular intervals, and follow the above cleaning & prepping instructions. It's quick and easy to do!
- Proper Use and Care will extend the life of your JeepSkins and protect the paint and metallic surface to which the skins are applied.
- Be sure to remove your JeepSkins when washing your vehicle or driving through a car wash!
Installation Tips -
- Start with the doors, working from the top to the bottom.
- Then continue with the other skins following the same process.
- Lastly, install the small skins (if applicable) as indicated in the diagram included with your skins.
- Don' t forget to clean both sides of your JeepSkins before and after each use.
- The skins cannot be used when driving at high speeds.
- Not recommended for high speed freeway driving.
- Please refer to the conditions of use in the document included with your skins.
- When the temperature is very cold, it could be more difficult to apply the skins, they tend to like warmer conditions but simply use a little additional pressure with your hands when applying.
- When the outside temperature is very high, 95°-100° F (up to 35°c ), we recommend that you use caution when using your JeepSkins. Do not leave sitting for long periods of time as rubber can melt at extremely hot tempatures, 150° F (66°C) and it could possibly stick to the paintwork. If this should happen, you would need to re-polish the paintwork.
- Should the JeepSkins distort, place on a flat surface in a warm area. After a few minutes it will warm up and then you can re-apply the skins on your vehicle.
- Do not place any electronic device ( telephone, GPS, computers, … ) on the skins as this could interfere with performance of your skins. ( this does not affect equipment inside the vehicle ).
Storage :
- If possible, store you skins flat, all skins should be facing the same way, otherwise, in their original packaging.
- Keep in a dry place and do not forget to dry your skins properly before storage.
- Do not stack or lay anything on you skins as this will cause damage to your skins.
- Do not stack skins with magnetic side facing each other.
Spare parts :
- It is possible to re-order any skins separately.
- For any further questions, please contact us.
